Fire risk assessments are a very funny thing, we ask ourselves what they're for and who has to do them, also what cost are these courses and how they have helped the private sector earn a tremendous amount of money out of them. The new regulations are very unclear and much has been made about the quality of the fire risk assessments in use. I use a standard template that encourages common sense and the practicalities of fire. Are the current measures up to standard? What are the requirements by law. How likely is the risk of fire, and what do the new mitigation strategies offer in terms of reducing risk?

These have replaced the old fire certificate and can be done by anyone who is deemed competent under the eyes of the law. Competence is a funny one.

Oil well fires are more difficult to extinguish than regular fires due to the enormous fuel supply for the fire. In fighting a fire at a wellhead, typically high explosives, such as dynamite, are used to consume all the local atmospheric oxygen and snuff the flame out. Doing so removes the oxygen necessary for the fire to burn, but the fire's fuel, whether it be natural gas or oil, is still present which can shower down upon the working crew.

After snuffing, the wellhead must be capped to stop the flow of oil. During this time, the fuel and oxygen required to create another inferno is present in copious amounts. At this perilous stage, one small spark (perhaps from a steel or iron tool striking a stone) or other heat source might re-ignite the oil.

To prevent re-ignition, brass or bronze tools, which do not strike sparks, or paraffin coated tools are used during the capping process. Meticulous care is used to avoid heat and sparks, or any other ignition source. The explosive re-ignition of a wellhead may take the form of an extremely powerful explosion, possibly even worse than the original blowout.

Using dynamite to 'blow out' the fire by blasting fuel and oxygen from the flame and consuming oxygen in the combustion. This was one of the earliest effective methods and is still widely used. The first use was by Myron Kinley's father in California in 1913

Dry Chemical (mainly Purple K) can be used on small well fires such as those in refineries.

Special vehicles called "Athey wagons" as well as the typical bulldozer protected by corrugated steel sheeting are normally used in the process.

Reviews online for the  TurboFire Intense Cardio Conditioning Program are pretty strong, with an average user rating of 4 stars.  There were a couple of negative comments with one person saying the workouts are repetitive and the price is too high, but most reviewers were very happy with the DVDs.  A number of people even said that this is the best workout DVD they have ever purchased.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is a lot of jumping and kicking so if you have problems with your back, neck, knees etc. this may not be the right program for you.  The TurboFire Intense Cardio Conditioning Program is a very high energy cardio workout that incorporates a lot of dance moves.  There are modifications for some of the particularly high impact moves so that if you do have joint problems you could perform alternate movements and still get a good workout.

Most of the reviewers said that the choreography is fun and the music is good and that using the TurboFire Intense Cardio Conditioning Program allows them to burn a lot of calories in a short period of time.  Some of the reviewers said that they normally get bored with workout DVDs but this one was fun and kept them interested.  It is a difficult workout, you will break a sweat and you will be out of breath but many reviewers say that it is also an enjoyable workout so you're burning fat and having fun at the same time.
